With this project you MUST use 100% cotton thread and 100% cotton fabrics ONLY. This package will make one insulated casserole dish hot pad. The Hot pad is heat resistant- not heat proof.
Are you ready for all the summer BBQs and picnics? Your hotdish will take center stage when presented in this Americana Casserole Hot Pad! This stars-and-stripes motif is created using the Creative Grids Strippy Stars tool by Deb Heatherly.
This pattern uses the Casserole Dish Hot Pad Pre-cut Batting and Insulating material, which has two layers of batting and a polyester and metalized layer to help keep your hotdish hot. It perfectly fits a standard 9 by 13-inch casserole dish.
With just three fabrics, this pattern would be simple to make with a red, white, and blue fabric from your color wall. Why not make it in Fall and Winter holiday colors as well? After all, stars are always in season, and these would make great hostess gifts.

Creative Grids CGRDH2 and The Gypsy Quilter Casserole Dish Hot Pad Pre-Cut Batting (TGQ104) are required. Choose your options

Batting Instructions: This package contains two pieces of pre-cut cotton batting, and one piece of pre-cut heat reflective material (*** DO NOT MICROWAVE ***) to make one Casserole Dish Hot Pad.
Place the pre-cut heat reflective material between one pre-cut batting and the wrong side of a 20 inch by 15-3/4 inch rectangle of 100% cotton fabric. Using 100% cotton thread, quilt the fabric to the batting as desired.
Then fold and stitch the darts 1/4 inch away from the cut edge of the batting. Trim excess fabric. Place the second pre-cut cotton batting on the wrong side of the second 20 inch by 15-3/4 inch rectangle of cotton fabric, and quilt as desired. Put rights sides together, and stitch around outer edge.
Leave an opening for turning. Grade seams, to reduce bulk and clip curves. Turn and stitch opening closed.
You may want to add additional quilting to join the top layer to the bottom layer of the Casserole Dish Hot Pad (*** DO NOT MICROWAVE ***). Top stitch around the edge.
